I will first meet with your son or daughter to assess phonemic awareness, handwriting, reading and spelling abilities. This diagnostic assessment is typically a one-hour session and helps identify their specific grade level reading gaps.

Lessons are 55 minutes twice a week. Twice a week sessions are required to help students build on what they learned in the previous lesson and build the automaticity needed to become fluent readers.

Signs of dyslexia include delayed reading development, difficulty with spelling, reversing letters or numbers, and challenges with reading comprehension. Formal evaluation by an educational psychologist is recommended for diagnosis.I have specialized training in helping students with dyslexia, and I also work with many students without dyslexia who have different challenges resulting in age level reading gaps.

Every student is unique and treated as such. Students show where they are at and when they are ready and comfortable to progress to new material. Because of the individuality of progress, some concepts may be easy for a student to grasp while others take longer. The goal is automaticity- teaching so that the student is automatic in reading and spelling the words correctly at least 90% of the time. Reading growth takes time, consistency, and practice. To give your child the best opportunity for success, I ask families to commit to three months of tutoring when we begin. This allows us to build a strong instructional routine, monitor progress, and determine whether my approach is the right fit for your child. At the end of the three months, we'll review your child's progress together and discuss next steps.

We start with a comprehensive Initial Assessment ($125). This is a dedicated, 60-minute diagnostic session where I map out your child's current reading baseline and pinpoint specific gaps.After that, regular 55 minute instruction sessions are $75 per hour. This flat rate covers everything: one on one tutoring, fully customized lesson plans I prepare in advance, and ongoing progress monitoring to ensure they are hitting their literacy goals.

We all get sick or have conflicts, including myself! I will try my best to inform you of any cancellations 24 hours in advance and I ask you to do the same. Payment will be held to reschedule the session. If a session is missed by a student due to a conflict not previously discussed, the session will not be rescheduled, and payment for the session will be retained. Frequent cancellations and rescheduling may result in loss of preference or termination of services.
